“Inside Edition” host Deborah Norville has signed on to do a weekday talk show on MSNBC. The still-untitled series will air at 8 p.m. and will begin sometime this month.

Norville will do television double-duty as she is contracted with “Inside Edition” through the 2004-05 season.
According to The Washington Post, Norville will take over the slot vacated by the decision to move “The Abrams Report” to the 5 p.m. slot formerly occupied by “Buchanan & Press,” which was canceled. The cable news network originally hoped that Jesse Ventura’s talk show would be able to take the slot, but the governor-wrestler faltered in his latest gig, and the show was recently put on permanent hiatus.
The move marks a return for Norville to the NBC news family. She previously served as anchor of “News at Sunrise” and news reader on “Today.” After Norville was tapped to replace Jane Pauley, though, things started to go sour, and Norville lasted only 15 months.
