When Fox has a show that proves successful in the ratings, the network programmers find a way to put that show on the air as much as possible. The saturation bombing campaign that has turned “The Simple Life” into a hit is just the latest example.
Fox will air an hourlong bonus episode of “The Simple Life” at 7 p.m. Jan. 13. The show’s half-hour season finale will be the next night at 7:30 p.m.
Since the show’s Dec. 2 premiere drew more than 13 million viewers, what began as a six-episode run has spun out into a lengthy string of new episodes, bonus episodes and reairings. A mini-marathon of “The Simple Life” on Dec. 30 averaged 9 million viewers across four episodes and helped Fox dominate the night among adults 18-49.
It’s unclear what material will be aired during the Jan. 13 episode. During the finale, though, the two girls will discover a love for roadkill.
