Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
Trinity Pierce plays trumpet for Oak Park’s wind ensemble, and also plays piano in her free time, but don’t ask her about band camp. The senior basketball player never went. “Band is a lot of fun,” said Pierce, who enjoys music more than basketball for safety’s sake. “I don’t sprain my ankle playing the trumpet.” She tore ligaments in her right ankle on the court last month. Pierce speaks German, which she learned at Grace Lutheran in River Forest–and spent four weeks last summer in Hamburg on an exchange program. “That [trip] was a lot of fun,” she said. “When I first started learning German, I didn’t really like [the language]. I’m not perfectly fluent, but I could get by easily. That made the trip fun.”
