Forward Justin Montrie once did a backflip after a Barrington soccer victory. In the winter that’s what he’s all about. The senior diver is a captain for the Broncos swim team. The 18-year-old is eighth all-time on the school’s goal and points soccer lists but prefers diving. “There’s something special about it,” said Montrie, who won the Lake County Invitational Dec. 20. “It’s you against everybody else. Bring it on.” Montrie and mates Jeff Lichtenstein, Brandon Williams and Jimmy Monek are undefeated this season. Montrie hopes to carry that momentum to the state meet, where he finished 18th last year. “It gets me kind of anxious every time I think about it,” he said. “I can do so much better.”
