Chicagoland Holiday Challenge
No. 3 Loyola finished 5-0 and claimed the tournament championship with a 58-51 win over Barrington. In a game that featured 18 lead changes in the first 3 quarters, Eileen Weissmann’s rebound and putback with 6:40 to play gave the Ramblers (17-0) the lead for good. Weissmann finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Brittany McCoy added 20 points, including 9 in the fourth. Erin Lernihan led Barrington (6-10) with 15. . . . Lake Zurich took second place in the tournament with its 45-33 victory over Downers Grove South. Jennifer VanTuyle led the Bears (11-4) with 15 points, 6 rebounds.

No. 16 Neuqua Valley fell to Ankeny (Iowa) 61-51 in the third-place game. Brittanie Taylor-James (19 points), Abbie Siljendahl (14 points) and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton (13 points, 13 rebounds) led the Wildcats (9-3).
Benet/Naperville North
Benet looks to avenge last week’s pool-play loss to West Chicago when the teams meet in Tuesday’s championship. The Redwings (11-3) earned their berth with Monday’s turnover-plagued 49-37 victory over Naperville North as guard Chandra Smith led the way with 16 points. . . . In the other semifinal, Dana Hernan scored 12 to lead West Chicago (9-6) past Providence 54-26.

Leading 62-59 with 3 minutes to play, Wheeling got 2 free throws by Laura Joya and a basket by Taylor Lawless to ice a 68-61 win over Fenton. Lindsay Lewis (22 points, including 15 in the 2nd quarter), Joya (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Lawless (14 points, 16 rebounds) paced the Wildcats (6-9). Kristi Siemers had 18 points for Fenton (4-9). . . . Marist downed the host Wolfpack 44-38 to capture its second consecutive tournament title. Maureen Downs scored all 6 points during a 6-2 run that gave Marist the lead for good at 38-35 with 6:05 remaining. Downs finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, and Katie Grunauer collected 15 points, 5 steals for Marist (13-2). Elizabeth Pietrzak’s 13 points, 11 rebounds paced St. Ignatius (8-9). . . . Latin (13-2) used a 12-2 run to close out the 3rd quarter on its way to a 49-43 win over Mother Guerin. Sarah Dickerson-Locke netted 20, including 7 during the run, and teammate Carley Verhey grabbed 13 rebounds. . . . Northside Prep (10-8) cruised past Thornridge 49-27 behind 14 points by Katie Duffy.

Lindsey Bava’s 26 points lifted Montini (12-3) over Lisle (10-3) 56-50.

Hope handled Conant 74-46 as sophomore guard Latear Eason poured in 28 points. Courtney Haskins added 16 for Hope, while Kathy Gruzynski led Conant with 23.
