After attending the UIC-UW-Milwaukee basketball game Tuesday, I was greatly disappointed in Flames coach Jimmy Collins’ lack of civility. I understand the bitterness from the past between Collins and coach Bruce Pearl and do not expect them ever to be friends. But enough is enough.
Collins and another assistant walked away to the locker room after the game in order to avoid shaking Pearl’s hand. He also disrespected the UWM players who have nothing to do with the past. His players slapped hands with the UWM players. If coach Collins could show some class and at least congratulate the opposing players, as his own players did, that would be a start toward eliminating a hatred that has gone on too many years.
