Christmas came early to Stars Hollow.

The WB has decided to pick up a fifth season of “Gilmore Girls.” The series, which stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, has become one of the Frog’s signature shows in its three-plus years on the air. The fifth-season pickup also all but assures the series will pass the 100-episode landmark.

Jordan Levin, co-CEO of The WB, praises “Gilmore Girls” creator Sherman-Palladino as “a gifted writer with one of the most unique voices on television.”

“Gilmore Girls” debuted in fall 2000 to fairly meager ratings opposite NBC’s powerful Thursday lineup. The WB stuck with the show, and it blossomed after moving to Tuesdays the following season.

The show is averaging about 4.7 million viewers a week and consistently performs well among the WB’s target demographics of young adults and teenagers.
