Texas Tech coach Bob Knight was not happy after the Red Raiders (8-2) beat San Diego State 78-68 on Saturday. How come? Because a season-low 6,136 fans attended the game in Lubbock. “I’m really, really, really disappointed in attendance at basketball games here,” Knight said. “That’s come to bother me a great deal. If that’s all that’s going to attend basketball here, then Tech ought to give up basketball.” Through six home games, attendance (6,955) is down about 1,000 from the same time last season (7,801). “If we can’t have better attendance from a community this size and a university with 30,000 students, we’re spending too much money on basketball,” Knight said.
