Yes, that was Barrington senior two-sport star Jason Szczesny and some of his sporting buddies–shirtless, with painted chests spelling out “Broncos”–at a Barrington basketball game in Schaumburg. Szczesny, with a black “R” and self-made warpaint designs on his chest, also painted 33 on his shoulder to salute classmate Aaron Kirchoff, who plays basketball and football. “We did it because we were going into battle,” Szczesny said. “All of us have great school spirit. They support us, so we were just returning the favor.” A hockey center who also plays center on the football team, Szczesny said the artwork only took five minutes. So why R? “I just didn’t want to be at the beginning or the end.”
