According to Proviso West athletic director Kyle Hastings, No. 7 Farragut (3-1) has withdrawn from the Proviso West Holiday Basketball Tournament and will be replaced by Sullivan (1-5). Farragut is scheduled to compete in the Board of Education holiday tournament that begins Jan. 2.

“There was a misunderstanding about the financial arrangement for playing in the tournament from last year, so we never agreed to play in this year’s tournament,” said Farragut AD Leon Walker. Hastings, meanwhile, said Proviso West had received a signed contract from Farragut agreeing to compete in this year’s event.

Glenbrook North (4-1), which had been scheduled to face Farragut in the opening round Dec. 26, now will draw Sullivan instead. The top teams in the tournament include No. 1 Homewood-Flossmoor, No. 3 Von Steuben and No. 4 Hillcrest.
