ABC has five nominations and HBO is close behind with four as the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation unveiled the nominees for its annual Media Awards.
The nominees for outstanding drama series all come from cable. HBO’s “Six Feet Under” is competing against Showtime’s “Queer as Folk” and Noggin’s “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” Two new cable dramas, ESPN’s “Playmakers” and FX’s “Nip/Tuck” also make the cut.
Several network offerings appear on the comedy side with Fox’s “Oliver Beene,” NBC’s “Will & Grace” and ABC’s “It’s All Relative.” They’re joined by HBO’s “Sex and the City” and Comedy Central’s “Reno 911!.”
In the newly created reality category, Bravo scored double nods with “Boy Meets Boy” and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” Also grabbing nominations were MTV’s “The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet,” UPN’s “America’s Next Top Model” and CBS’ Emmy-winning “Amazing Race.”
