A strong November sweep helped earn “Jimmy Kimmel Live” a second season. ABC announced Monday that the late night talk show has been renewed through the 2004-05 season.
“This is great news, as I am saving up to buy a new truck,” says Kimmel of his pick-up.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” premiered Jan. 26, following the Super Bowl. The show features comic Kimmel and a rotation of eclectic co-hosts who have included Snoop Dogg and Kermit the Frog.
During the November sweep, “Kimmel Live” averaged 1.82 million viewers per night (up from 1.75 during the May sweeps period). The show was up 14 percent from May in adults ages 18 to 49 and posted gains in the key young male demographics that ABC craves.
“We’ve always known Jimmy’s had a great deal of raw talent,” says ABC Chairman Lloyd Braun. “It’s exciting watching him use that talent to become such a dynamic and gifted late night host. The sky is the limit for Jimmy and this show.”
