She’s a defensive specialist on the basketball court and a high-honors student (4.2 GPA on 4.0 scale),but the kitchen is where Barrington senior Anna Kostuk really cooks. Now in her fourth varsity season, Kostuk has become a local caterer on-call after word spread about her culinary talents. She cooked nightly meals for a family for whom she worked as a nanny, then whipped up an impressive array of 20 appetizers and desserts for a 100-person party. She turned out goat cheese with sun-dried tomatoes and pesto sauce; lemon bars; potato skins; nachos and hummus, among others. Kostuk also cooks regular entrees, including her favorite: home-made chicken pot pie. “Cooking is a stress release,” Kostuk said.
