The fact the Kansas City Chiefs lost was anything but surprising. But to the Cincinnati Bengals?

Well, get used to it. The Bengals have changed their stripes. This isn’t the same team that hasn’t had a winning season since 1990, posting an NFL-worst 61-147 mark from 1991-2002.

“We have the belief that we are going to do things the right way, and we are going to make plays,” said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. “Do your job and good things will happen.”

After an 0-3 start, the Bengals are 5-2, with wins against division leaders Baltimore, Seattle and K.C. They share first in the AFC North with their best 10-game record since they started 6-4 in 1990.

It has them thinking playoffs. “The team that gets hot, plays well down the stretch, keeps getting better, does the little things, and stays healthy has a chance to go very far,” Lewis said.

The Super Bowl is out of the Bengals’ league right now . . . but not for long.
