Huskies coach Joe Novak is trying to restore the confidence of junior quarterback Josh Haldi, who had three passes intercepted in Saturday’s 49-30 loss at Toledo. “Josh was down on himself, but I think he’ll bounce back,” Novak said. “He has been down before and come back. He probably puts too much of the blame on himself. That goes with the quarterback position.” Haldi threw three touchdown passes at Toledo, giving him 24 against nine interceptions for the season. . . .
Saturday’s opponent, Eastern Michigan, has won two games in a row since running backs coach Al Lavan succeeded Jeff Woodruff, who was fired. “I’ve opposed firing college coaches in midseason,” Novak said. “It isn’t fair to the kids. Al’s winning the last two games is an amazing accomplishment.”
