Lyle Lovett My Baby Don’t Tolerate
It’s been seven years since the wire-haired Texas tunesmith released an album of original songs. The wait has been worth it. “Don’t Tolerate” is packed with the things Lovett does best–road odes, Western swing, gospel raves–all worked up with as much energy and wit as Lovett has ever put forth. But it’s the melancholy ballads such as “In My Own Mind” that will give this disc a haunting place of permanence.
