Sr. QB Jeffery Franklin was 5-of-9 passing for 80 yards and 2 TDs and rushed for 2 more scores to lead the Greyhounds (5-0, 2-0). Fr. RB Robert Hughes rushed for 107 yards and a TD on 9 carries. Sr. DB Nathan Lyles had 2 interceptions.

Jr. QB Sean Price was 21-of-26 passing for 314 yards and 4 TDs as the Hawks (5-0, 1-0) won the 1st home night game in school history. Price didn’t have much time to celebrate: “I’m going home and getting to bed early. We have school. Coach [Dave Inserra] says if he catches us out tonight, we have to do laps.” Mike Labus had 5 receptions for 66 yards and 2 TDs as Maine South racked up 410 total yards. Frank Abel rushed for 109 yards on 20 carries for Glenbrook South (1-4, 0-1).

QB Ric Radcliffe rushed for 52 yards and 3 TDs on 8 carries to lead the Knights (4-1, 1-0). Radcliffe was also 12-of-18 passing for 179 yards, while Brian Bell ran for 91 yards and a TD on 20 attempts. Bell added a 33-yard FG and kicked 4 extra points. “The offense is really improving every game,” said Prospect coach Brent Pearlman. “The defense is playing well. We need to complement the defense and hold the ball a little more.” QB Chris Kudyba was 11-of-24 passing for 90 yards and a TD for Elk Grove (2-3, 0-1), but was also picked off 3 times.

RB Drew James rushed for 104 yards and 3 TDs (55, 14, 10) on 15 carries to lead the Broncos (5-0, 1-0). QB Garrett Seeger ran for 160 yards and a TD on 18 carries. The Broncos defense had 3 interceptions. Tony LaCapra had 117 yards and a TD on 13 carries for Palatine (1-4, 0-1).

Sr. QB Jon Fixler was 12-of-29 passing for 232 yards and tossed 2 TD passes to Martin Ceisel to lead the Warriors (4-1, 1-0). Brett Lemick returned an interception 45 yards for a TD just 1:35 before halftime to put Deerfield up 24-0. Steven Turner scored on a 1-yard run in the 4th quarter for Highland Park (1-4, 0-1).

RB Matt Elipas rushed for 100 yards and 2 TDs on 14 carries and QB Dusty Napoleon passed for 2 scores to lead the Trevians (4-1, 1-0). Waukegan (2-3, 0-1) scored on Chris Huley’s 86-yard kickoff return just before the half.

Sr. QB Chris Chiefari was 16-of-22 passing for 263 yards and 4 TDs, while playing just the 1st half and part of the 3rd quarter. Jr. George Louckes made 6 catches for 122 yards and 2 TDs (50, 24) for the Mustangs (5-0, 1-0). “We have an explosive offense,” Chiefari said. “Last week it was [WR Bryan] Porter, this week it was George. They all run routes, catch the ball and are sure-handed.” Rolling Meadows’ defense had 3 sacks and forced 4 fumbles.

Tom Myszka ran for just 51 yards on 26 carries but scored 2 TDs for the Saxons (3-2, 1-0). Myszka scored on a 1-yard run in the 2nd quarter and a 9-yard run in the 3rd to break a 7-7 tie. Jordan Breaux ran for 96 yards and a TD on 18 carries for Hoffman Estates (2-3, 0-1).

Soph. RB Mitchell Moore rushed for 4 TDs on 5 carries (52 yards) as the Blue Devils (3-2, 1-0) rolled. Sr. RB Matt Brockie ran for 102 yards and a TD for Warren but left with a sprained right ankle in the 3rd quarter.

VERNON HILLS 17 Grant 14

Andy Wenman kicked a 31-yard FG with :45 left as the Cougars (4-1, 1-0) rallied from a 14-0 deficit. Wenman also scored on a 76-yard pass play from Chris Howard in the 2nd quarter to put Vernon Hills on the board. Howard hit Juan Ruiz on a 6-yard strike later in the 2nd for a 14-14 halftime tie. John Gier had 192 yards, including an 83-yard TD, on 20 attempts for Grant (2-3, 0-1).

Emery Byrd rushed for 139 yards and 2 TDs on 13 carries to lead the Bulldogs (3-2, 2-0). Byrd scored on a 47-yard jaunt in the 3rd quarter to put Senn up 16-6. QB Jamie Sullivan scored on a 1-yard run in the 4th quarter for insurance. Sullivan also had 4 pass breakups at DB, including 2 on Lincoln Park’s final desperation drive. David Malloy had 2 TDs rushing for Lincoln Park (3-2, 1-1).

Sergio Ortiz rushed for 187 yards and a TD on 16 attempts to lead Clemente (4-1, 2-0). Manny Roman had 4 receptions for 182 yards and a TD for the winners. S Anthony Alvarez had an interception return for a score.

Nick Brown rushed for 98 yards and a TD and James Hoefer added 90 yards and a TD as the Spartans (2-3, 1-0) rallied from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit. Kevin Benoit threw for 1 TD and ran for another for the winners.
