Chelios gives Chicago the chill

Even though former Blackhawks great Chris Chelios now patrols the blueline for the arch-rival Detroit Red Wings, Hawks fans could take solace in the fact that Cheli’s Chili was still very much a part of the city on West Madison Street. No more. The restaurant is now closed and boarded up and–to make matters worse–Chelios is getting ready to open a new Cheli’s Chili in Dearborn, Mich. The opening is scheduled for around the start of the NHL season in October. The 19-year veteran defenseman said he chose Dearborn because it reminded him of Evergreen Park, the Southwest suburb of Chicago in which he grew up.
