Stories and Poems for Extremely Intelligent Children of All Ages

Selected by Harold Bloom

Scribner, 573 pages, $27.50

If two ideas are held dear–that all children are gifted and that they should be read to as long as they will have it–this is a terrific volume. Divided nicely into the four seasons, these creative gems from as diverse a cast of authors as Leo Tolstoy and Lewis Carroll can be enjoyed as bedtime treats.
