Two teenage Naperville residents were arrested Wednesday night for allegedly smashing mailboxes with a baseball bat in three subdivisions.
The unidentified boys, ages 15 and 16, were charged with four counts of criminal damage to property and curfew violation, police said. They were released to the custody of their parents.
Around 11:05 p.m., Naperville police responded to a report of people smashing mailboxes with a baseball bat while riding in a green Jeep SUV with a tan top on the 2400 block of Foxboro Lane in the Stillwater subdivision. Police said they located the jeep near Gateshead Drive and Naperville-Plainfield Road and found the two teenagers inside. They also found a baseball bat in the vehicle, and the youths admitted to smashing four mailboxes, police said.
The damage was done in the Stillwater, Ashbury and Rose Hill Farm subdivisions, Sgt. Joel Truemper said. Total damages were estimated at $415, he added.
