After a six-month delay, the Chicago Department of Health has placed restaurant inspection results on the Web.
The department’s page generates reports on specific establishments and provides a glossary of health code violations. The report identifies any health codes violated; whether the violations are “critical,” “serious” or “minor”; whether the restaurant received a “pass” or “fail” in the inspection; and whether the facility is closed as a result. The reports are available at www.cityofchicago.org/health.
Restaurant inspections are available to anyone, and it takes about a week to receive paper reports. Online reports are available within a few days of an inspection.
