Holy cow, it’s unbelievable what people will steal. I recently discovered this little truth while shopping at the local Dominick’s.
My cart was loaded down with bags of dog food and tubs of kitty litter when I realized I had forgotten one essential item: toilet paper. Rather than wheel the weighty cart one aisle over, I decided to leave the cart behind and make a quick run for it.
When I returned, in a matter of seconds, one item was missing–I had placed a book I’d been reading on the subway in the cart’s kiddy seat, and now it was nowhere to be found. Unless spontaneous combustion had occurred, someone had snatched it.
I can’t remember the book’s title; it was one that had come in the mail at work. But the topic was interesting: how to pick the church that’s right for you.
I can only hope stealing the book turned out to be a religious experience for the thief. But I can’t imagine anyone needing it more than I do!
