A recent visitor stepped into the Tribune’s main lobby and read the various information monitors and engraved quotations that dot the walls.

“Hmmm, 1847 [the year the Tribune began publishing],” he said. “Is this the original lobby?”

A security guard smiled pleasantly. “Oh, I don’t know,” he said. “I wasn’t there then.”
