Dan Bern and the IJBC
Fleeting Days
Dan Bern has demonstrated a keen, sarcastic sense of humor on his previous five albums. Even the name of the band on Bern’s sixth record, “Fleeting Days,” displays a certain irreverence: “IJBC” stands for “International Jewish Banking Conspiracy.” The humor comes through, but it’s the more earnest songs on “Fleeting Days” that deserve attention. Comparisons to Dylan have followed Bern since his 1997 debut, but many of his performances on “Fleeting Days” owe more to Elvis Costello.
