Lunafest, a traveling festival of films by emerging women filmmakers, presents six award-winning independent short works. They include “Boobie Girl,” a 5-minute animated film by Brooke Keesling, which received an Academy Award and Emmy for Best Student Animation and was an official selection for the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. The film is a cautionary tale about a young girl who wishes she had large breasts. Also on the program is “Dear Judge” by Laleh Soomekh, winner of the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival. This timely 27-minute film documents the lives of children whose mother is in prison for a crime she did not commit and their fight to free her. Lunafest will also present “Grrlyshow,” “Janey Van Winkle,” “Personal Touch” and “Psalm 51.” Net proceeds benefit The Breast Cancer Fund.
