The Gene Siskel Film Center is screening several new works that were presented at the African Film Festival in New York City. “L’Afrance,” directed by Alain Gomis, chronicles the identity crisis of a young Senegalese expatriate who is arrested in Paris because his visa has expired. “Bronx Barbies,” directed by anthropologist Eliane de Latour, presents a humorous, fictional view of gang bangers and drug dealers in an African shantytown called the Bronx. Also featured is the Chicago premiere of “The Pinochet Case,” which intersperses scenes of the wrangling to prevent the retired Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet from being put on trial for crimes against humanity with testimonies of people who survived his reign of terror.

“L’Afrance,” 6:15 p.m. Fri., 7:30 p.m. Sat.; “Bronx Babies,” 8 p.m. Fri. and Mon.; “The Pinochet Case,” Fri. through Thu.; Gene Siskel Film Center, School of the Art Institute, 164 N. State St., $8; 312-846-2600.
