Bears fans will be especially unhappy to know Packers quarterback Brett Favre recovered from his playoff loss amazingly fast and squelched speculation about his retirement Monday.
“Right now I’m playing great, this team has a chance and I’m having fun,” Favre said. “I see no reason why this team shouldn’t compete for a Super Bowl next year.”
Favre, 33, said his formula for retirement is a combination of “how I play” and whatever “business decision” the Packers feel necessary.
“Neither of those has occurred,” he said.
Favre said his 13-year-old daughter Brittany told him he should come back “two or three more years.”
“I don’t want to play and be one of those guys just hanging on,” Favre said. “I hope I leave before that happens.”
Favre said he didn’t blame Lambeau Field fans for booing during the Packers’ first home playoff loss in history, 27-7 to Atlanta on Saturday night. But he also alluded to a string of injuries that decimated the team throughout the season.

The Packers started 8-1 with Favre throwing 17 touchdown passes and four interceptions. They were 4-4 down the stretch with Favre throwing 11 TD passes and 14 interceptions.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a team face the adversity we faced and still win 12 games,” he said. “There were times the other night when I wasn’t sure who was in the huddle.”
