Chicago Facets Film Series presents the Chicago premiere of “Israel in Exile,” which was written and directed by Juan Ramirez and made in collaboration with Chicago’s Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum. This film, in English and Spanish, with English subtitles, focuses on the conflict between an aging boxer, Israel Mendoza, and a young champ whose life he saved and how they confront their own demons. “Israel in Exile,” which was presented at the Slamdance Film Festival, is considered a parable for Mexican immigration. The soundtrack ranges from traditional Latin music to contemporary rap. Ramirez will be present at the screening.
