Touching Down (Full Cycle)
Perhaps all drum ‘n’ bass records are meant to be heard on the dance floor rather than in the living room because there’s really no way to duplicate the heart-thumping power of this music anywhere else. While definitely worth a listen, Size’s debut as a solo artist (after a pair of classic albums with his collective Reprazent) never rises above its obsession with unremitting beats and massive bass lines, which sound downright tame on the home stereo. A few tracks do pierce the relentless repetition with warmer instruments like strings, flute and guitar, but don’t expect anything truly groundbreaking.
