In conjunction with the Field Museum’s “Pearls” exhibit, Milos Stehlik, director of Facets Multi-Media, will discuss the role these gems have played in films. He will show excerpts from movies including 1937’s “Pearls of the Crown” directed by Sacha Guitry, “The Pearl” based on the book by John Steinbeck, “Montenegro” (also known as “Of Pigs and Pearls”) and “Queen Margot” by Patrice Chereau. The presentation will illustrate the romanticization of pearls and pearl fishers and how the gems have served as a catalyst for good and evil–and highlight their sheer beauty.

“Pearls of the Screen,” 6 p.m. Tues., Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, $12; 312-665-7400.
