Letter writer Charles Buscemi (“Outlaw religion,” Voice of the people, Nov. 6) states that “It is high time for reasonable, logical, non-superstitious people to call for the elimination of organized religion.” This statement is laughable at best.
How does Buscemi plan to eliminate organized religion? Should he and other “reasonable people” call for an end to the Bill of Rights, which grants us the freedom of religion? When will people like Buscemi realize that it is impossible to eradicate the beliefs of people? He says that religion is used by fanatics to kill and has been the cause of millions of deaths. The suppression of beliefs and ideas is just as threatening to all people as religion in the hands of a fanatic.
