In the sixth minute of its sixth game of the season, the Sandburg boys soccer team finally relinquished a goal. But the top-ranked Eagles are still riding a 33-game unbeaten streak as they cruised to a 5-1 win Thursday over Lyons Township.
Dan McLaughlin assisted David Greenman to give Lyons (3-3) the game-opening goal, but then it was all Sandburg.

Alex Duncan scored twice and Mike Piazza added another goal in a three-minute span midway through the first half as Sandburg (4-0-2) pulled away.
“I would say that was the best rhythm our offense has been in,” Sandburg coach Jack Ferraro said about the Eagles’ scoring flurry in the 14th, 15th and 16th minutes of the game.
Duncan finished with a hat trick and Colin Aubin had three assists, serving up Duncan twice. John Partyka also scored on an assist from Paul Kopec. Goalkeeper Cole Glassner made four saves.
Waubonsie Valley 2, Hinsdale South 1: Danny May and Adam Macek scored the goals for the No. 2 Warriors (3-2-1). P.J. McGreal tallied for Hinsdale South (2-4).
Conant 1, Hersey 0: Bryan Dahlquist’s first-half goal was all Conant (5-1) needed to upend No. 5 Hersey (3-2-1) in a Mid-Suburban crossover game. Goalkeeper Kevin Harte recorded nine saves for his third shutout.
Benet 6, Holy Cross 1: In the East Suburban Catholic, the No. 10 Redwings (4-1-1, 1-0) rolled behind Ben Aguilar’s three goals.
Downers Grove North 1, Wheaton Warrenville South 1: Mike Corvo gave North (2-3-1) a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute and Strider Elass tied the game for the Tigers (2-3-3) nine minutes later.
Fenwick 1, St. Patrick 0: Damian Kozbur scored the goal for the Friars (2-1-2).
Lake Zurich 3, McHenry 1: Matt Miller scored twice for the Bears (3-3, 1-0) in the Fox Valley.
Lincoln-Way East tournament: Chris Smith scored the game-winner with six minutes left as Evanston edged Naperville Central 3-2. . . . Brandon Bilbrey and Antonio Barrientos each scored a second-half goal to lead Fremd (5-1-1) over Libertyville 2-0.
Stagg 4, Romeoville 3: Patrick Cusack’s second goal was the game-winner for Stagg (2-2-1).

Austin 47, Amundsen 0: Thomas Nelson was 12-for-18 passing for 407 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tigers (2-1). He also recovered a fumble in the first quarter to set up Austin’s first touchdown. Simone Ladd caught two passes for 134 yards, including a 90-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown. Ladd also ran for a 3-yard score and had an interception.
Bowen 8, Gage Park 0: Offensive lineman Dameo Tevenal recovered a fumble and ran it 7 yards for a touchdown for the Boilermakers (2-1). Brandon Temple caught a two-point conversion pass from Jorge Sanchez to complete the scoring. Eric Alston had 128 yards in 16 carries to lead Bowen.
Chicago Vocational 53, Harlan 0: The Cavaliers (3-0) pounded Harlan (1-1) as Bryant Dority returned punts 70 and 50 yards for TDs. Gabriel Sargent rushed for only 48 yards, but scored on three of his four carries with runs of 29, 17 and 1 yard.
Julian 32, Curie 20: Julius Strong rushed for 223 yards on 25 carries and scored on a 58-yard run with 1:29 left in the game to seal the victory for the Jaguars (3-0). Strong also scored on a 91-yard kickoff return in the first quarter. Pierre Jones added two rushing touchdowns for Julian.
