The Chicago Botanic Garden will host a Pepper Festival, featuring sweet and hot varieties from around the world, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 11.
There also will be demonstrations on growing techniques as well as lessons about how to cook using peppers. Vendors will be on hand with unique pepper-related items for sale.
Frontera Grill’s Rick Bayless is scheduled for a special appearance in the Cook’s Corner at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Chicago Botanic Garden is at 1000 Lake-Cook Rd. in Glencoe–just look for the people with red faces who are drinking lots of fluids. It is open from 8 a.m. until sunset every day of the year, except Dec. 25. Admission is free, but parking costs $8.75. Visit online at www.chicagobotanic.org.
