Eight of the 26 lawyers seeking to be appointed to fill a vacancy in the ranks of DuPage County’s associate judges have been rated as highly recommended by the DuPage County Bar Association.

The vacancy was created when Associate Judge C. Stanley Austin was appointed as a full Circuit Court judge after the retirement of Judge Ronald Mehling.
Rated as highly recommended by the 2,000-member bar association were: Vincent Cornelius, a lawyer with offices in Wheaton; Richard Felice, a lawyer with offices in Wheaton and a former president of the bar association; Bruce Kelsey, a lawyer with offices in West Chicago; John McTigue, a lawyer with offices in Wheaton; John Panegasser, a lawyer with offices in Elmhurst; Thomas E. Sullivan, a lawyer with offices in Downers Grove; Thomas F. Sullivan Jr., a lawyer with offices in Wheaton; and Nancy Wolfe, chief of the civil-law division for the DuPage state’s attorney’s office. The county’s full circuit judges will meet next week Aug. 6 to narrow the field to two candidates before taking a vote.
