Two Aurora Township residents were arrested over the weekend after being accused of allegedly injuring a Kane County sheriff’s deputy while he was investigating a noise complaint at their home.

Neighbors of Abraham Ballines, 36, called police around 5:45 a.m. Saturday to complain about loud music at Ballines’ home in the 1100 block of South State Street, said Capt. Rick McKiness of the Kane County sheriff’s office.

When the sheriff’s deputy, whom McKiness would not identify, arrived at the house, Ballines was standing in the middle of the street with a beer can in hand, police said. Ballines allegedly refused to turn down the music and began quarreling with the deputy. They scuffled, and Ballines knocked the deputy to the ground, injuring his wrist and shoulder, McKiness said.

Laura Ramirez, 33, who lives with Ballines, joined the fight and grabbed the deputy’s arm, allowing Ballines to escape his grip, according to reports.

The couple ran back into their house. Other deputies from the Kane County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the Montgomery and Aurora Police Departments helped arrest Ballines and Ramirez.

The injured deputy was treated Saturday at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva and released. He has since returned to duty, McKiness said.

Ballines was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer, resisting arrest and being an intoxicated pedestrian in a roadway. He was released Sunday after posting $5,000 bail.

Ramirez was charged with battery of a police officer, resisting a police officer and obstructing a police officer. She was released Saturday after posting $1,000 bail.
