More than 60 celebrity chefs from Chicago’s Top Restaurants will be showcasing their culinary skills during 2002 Taste of Chicago on Viva, a sleek, futuristic kitchen by Ferrari stylist Pininfarina for Snaidero, the Italian manufacturer of luxury kitchens for more than 50 years.

The kitchen plays a part in Paramount Pictures film, “Changing Lanes,” a tale of how a minor fender-bender sets off a life or death struggle. It appears in a scene in which stars Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson face off as adversaries.

Little wonder that it steals the scene, for the kitchen is a synergistic blend of cutting-edge technology, rich materials and a touch of nostalgia.

Eye-catching details include a countertop available in stainless steel and cherry laminate, gently curved glass wall units and a pneumatic piston lift door system that opens up and out of the way.

Chefs from Coco Pazzo, Scoozi, Papagus Greek Tavern, Caliterra, Magnum’s Steakhouse, The Twisted Lizard and many other restaurants will showcase their talents in this unique kitchen, starting at 11 a.m daily, with the last demonstration scheduled at 5 p.m. Thursday through July 7.
