Many original architectural details made by hand by local craftsmen are a highlight of The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse at 3823 N. Lake Drive in Milwaukee. The seven-bedroom home, designed for gracious entertaining by Milwaukee architect Perce Schley, was built in the 1930s for Everett Slocum, Milwaukee pioneer in hat manufacturing.

The house offers leaded-glass windows, original mirrors over the fireplaces and many bathroom fixtures from that era. Local decorators and landscape architects have worked their magic for the fundraising event.

Last year’s showhouse raised $300,000 for breast and prostate cancer research at the Cancer Research Center of the Medical College of Wisconsin. This year’s goal is $350,000.
