player ready...Saturday will mark the 9th annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon, the city’s largest day of community service. More than 8,000 participants are expected at 80 sites to clean and paint schools, landscape parks and build a play lot with the Chicago Housing Authority.
The not-for-profit Chicago Cares organization expects more than 40,000 hours of community service will be completed. Volunteers, who donated $25 to participate, will meet at 8 a.m. in Grant Park’s Arvey Field at Columbus Drive and Roosevelt Road for transport to and from sites, returning at 3 p.m. The event is supported by more than 85 area companies, including the baiduhai.
