Armed Forces Day is Saturday and Navy Pier is marking the occasion.
During the weekend, pier visitors can try inflatable obstacle courses, check out a Navy F-18 flight simulator, get a close-up look at two humvees (one each from the Marines and Army) and talk with members of the armed forces. Children of all ages can visit the Kid’s Craft Corner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to decorate cards for armed forces members overseas.
In the Beer Garden from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday only, the Navy band Horizon will perform. Also Saturday, there will be a patriotic fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

At 11 a.m., noon and 1:45 p.m. on May 19, the Navy Recruit Training Command brings its choir, drill team, 50-state flag unit and band to perform on the Family Pavilion Stage.
Guests may visit a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the pier’s east end now through May 19.
