In recognition of their energetic community spirit, The Storehouse of World Vision presented their Crystal Vision Award to the Masco Corp. at a special breakfast April 6 at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show at McCormick Place.
The award to Masco was in essence for good corporate citizenship, said Mike Mantel, senior director of World Vision Chicago.
Each year, The Storehouse, a nonprofit resource center, serves more than 1,500 nonprofit community organizations, agencies and churches by providing donated building materials and supplies for a minimal handling fee to nonprofit organizations and ministries committed to revitalizing inner- city communities.
Since The Storehouse was founded in 1995, Masco Corp., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of brand-name consumer products for the home, including kitchen and bath products, fixtures and supplies, has donated products including cabinets and cabinet hardware, bathroom fixtures and hardware for use in rehabilitation of low-income housing and other renovation projects in under-resourced communities.
Over the past six years, The Storehouse has provided more than $14 million worth of construction supplies and building materials from corporate and local donors. Last year, The Storehouse received approximately $4 million in donations. More than 300 companies, including Kohler, Sears, Moen, Elkay Manufacturing, Sherwin Williams and Grohe have contributed to The Storehouse.
