Glenbard North’s opponents are used to saying that pitcher Lindsey Veselsky is practically unhittable. This week, they’ve meant it literally.

Veselsky struck out 19 of the 21 batters she faced Friday in firing a perfect game in the No. 2 Panthers’ 3-0 win over Neuqua Valley. It was the second no-hitter of the week for the senior right-hander, following a 16-strikeout performance against Bartlett on Wednesday.

“She’s pretty impressive,” Glenbard North coach James McKinney said. “She just keeps picking it up.”

In seven games this year Veselsky has allowed a total of five hits–one in each of her five one-hitters.

Veselsky struck out 425 batters last season, the second-highest total in state history, according to the Illinois High School Association. According to McKinney, the development of a nasty curveball has made Veselsky even better.

“She worked on her game over the summer and came up with another pitch that’s made her that much more effective,” McKinney said. “She’s [throwing] faster this year, and she’s got an additional pitch. It’s pretty imposing when you’re in that box and she’s taking that step toward you.”

Carla Musillo went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Lisa Fagerberg and Lisi Figueroa both went 2-for-3 for Glenbard North.
