College undergraduates who plan to pursue careers in animal care or youth education are invited to apply for summer internships with DuPage County Animal Control.

Students selected for the full-time internships will be expected to assist with the agency’s Animal Education Day Camp; present programs for area schoolchildren; provide grooming and other care for shelter residents; and show animals available for adoption.

Internships begin May 28 and end Aug. 9. Four positions are available.

The agency also has openings for volunteer counselors ages 17 and older to help with day camp activities from June 10 to Aug. 9; hours and time commitment are flexible. For more information, call Jennifer Pieper, the agency’s public information officer at 630-682-7197, ext. 111.

Animal Control also is seeking day camp speakers, including veterinarians, wildlife biologists, equestrians, farmers, dog trainers and others with expertise pertaining to animals, Pieper said.
