It seems Oscar-nominated actress Joan Cusack (“Working Girl,” “In & Out”) is determined to ply her trade while living on Chicago’s North Side.

Representatives of the Evanston-raised Cusack wouldn’t talk about possible plans for her to host a comedy-variety daytime series in 2003 for the Disney Co.’s Buena Vista Television that would be shot in Chicago, as reported in Variety.

Cusack’s short-lived ABC sitcom “What About Joan” was taped on Chicago’s West Side.

Meanwhile, NBC’s “Watching Ellie,” which less people have been doing, completes its run with two episodes on April 2. The series’ fate won’t be known until May, when NBC reveals its fall schedule.

The series, with “Seinfeld’s” Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a lounge singer whose exploits are followed in real time, has been losing its audience since it premiered Feb. 26 with 16.7 million viewers. Last Tuesday’s episode was seen 9.5 million viewers.
