Lisle trustees have agreed to hire consultants to update the village’s 7-year-old comprehensive land-use plan.
Mayor Joe Broda said the update was needed because the village created a downtown master plan a few years ago.
“We need to look very strongly at our land-use plan and how it pertains to the downtown plan,” Broda said. “The time is well overdue for an update.”
The village will hire Rolf C. Campbell & Associates Inc. of Lake Bluff, which has provided previous updates to Lisle’s 1969 original plan.
The firm estimates the update will cost between $30,000 and $45,000.
“We are available to do as much or as little as you want done,” firm Chairman Rolf C. Campbell told trustees during a Village Board meeting.
“There are a number of sub-areas that you would probably want us to look at, update and see how they would become” part of a comprehensive plan, Campbell said, citing as an example the controversial proposed Meijer store site.
The updating process will include meetings with village staff and elected officials, residential surveys, a review of planning items such as natural resources and development trends and a review of land-use categories, followed by bringing data in the last plan in line with census and zoning information.
Community Development Director Tony Budzikowski said Lisle expects to seek the public’s input through informational meetings and public hearings.
“Before the public-hearing process actually starts, we need to hold some informational workshop meetings to get residents sitting down and talking about the plan and specific focal areas,” he said.
