The word in the home furnishings and design world is that Vera Wang and Waterford Wedgwood PLC are an item.
But, like a blushing pair of betrothed sweethearts, Wang and Wedgwood are keeping the details of their planned marriage a secret.
“We’re not ready to say anything for publication,” says Pete Cheney, a spokesman for Waterford Wedgwood PLC.
This much we know: Wang, who is known for elegant and graceful evening and wedding gowns, is planning her first collection of china, crystal, dinnerware and stemware with Wedgwood.
Dinnerware and tabletop store buyers will get a sneak peek at the new collection in April. If these buyers like the Wang-Wedgwood union, then we may see something in the stores in August.
According to Fairchild Publications, which first reported the liason in December, the products will be distributed through department and specialty stores, as well as in the designer’s Madison Avenue boutique and in Vera Wang shop-in-shop bridal salons.
