Local grants: Seven Chicago-area not-for-profit arts organizations are getting a total of about $760,000 from the bountiful, Chicago-based John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

The grants are going to: Ravinia Festival, $300,000 over three years for arts education and programming at Lawndale community organizations; Chicago Children’s Museum, $80,000 for general operations; Steppenwolf Theatre Company, $80,000 for general operations; Association House, $75,000 for its integrated arts program; Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, $75,000 for general operations; Northwestern University Settlement Association, $75,000 for arts programming in the West Town and Humboldt Park neighborhoods; and WTTW-Ch.11, $75,000 for the Artbeat Chicago program series.
