Members of the General Administration and Personnel Committee decided Monday to join Buffalo Grove and Palatine in their attempt to attract new cable-TV service to the area. The three villages will split the estimated $1,000 cost of preparing a request for proposals from cable firms.
Hoffman Estates residents experienced service interruptions and had problems contacting AT&T Broadband customer service agents when the company began offering digital service. The number of calls rose to 221 in 2001 from 75 in 2000, village officials said.
In other action, the committee approved creation of a Celebrations Commission. The village already had appointed three people to the commission last week, including Joane McCormack McLeod, wife of Mayor William McLeod; local Chamber of Commerce executive Jill Blodgett and Village Clerk Virginia Hayter, who will chair the commission.
The 11-member commission will come up with new ideas for community events and will report quarterly to the Village Board. A budget has not been set. The commission’s first meeting will be held at the end of the month.
