One of the many Black History Month events at Chicago Children’s Museum is its Nigerian Festival Days, Feb. 7 to 10. The museum will feature Nigerian art, music and dance, plus the language of Nigerian clothes, a drum celebration with master Yoruba drummer Johnson Obasola and the wonders of “gong talk” with Michael Ukaigwe of the Enumbra Nigerian Foundation.

There also will be hourly classes on Nigerian mask making in the Kraft Artabounds Studio beginning at 1 p.m., with sessions until 4 p.m. On Thursday evenings, classes are held on the half-hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Artist Felix Obialor will teach the symbolism behind Nigerian masks and help students to create their own mask.

Chicago Children’s Museum is at 700 E. Grand Ave. on Navy Pier. For more information, call 312-527-1000 or visit www.chichildrensmuseum.org.
