Chicago Chamber Musicians presents its annual family concert at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 27 at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. The informal hour concert for ages 3 and older includes the Chicago premiere of Peter Hamlin’s “Penelope Popocatepetl and the Three Babirusas” and Sergei Prokofiev’s classic, “Peter and the Wolf.”

“Penelope” teaches politeness and sharing when popcorn-loving little Penelope has her favorite treat stolen by a trio of hungry Babirusas–elephantlike creatures whose trunks resemble a trumpet, French horn and trombone.

“Peter and the Wolf” is about a boy who outfoxes a vicious wolf. It features different instruments for the different characters, such as the strings for Peter and French horns for the wolf.

Tickets are $10, phone 312-225-5226.
