Freshman Laura Holloway illustrated that as Barrington captured its second consecutive Mid-Suburban League volleyball championship Wednesday with a 13-15, 15-8, 15-8 victory over Prospect.
Holloway came off the bench to record six kills and six blocks for the Fillies (26-8), including three blocks and a kill in the critical third game.

Kelly Jennings contributed 25 assists for Barrington and Ingrid Roth tallied six kills.
Molly May led the Knights (21-8) with 11 kills.
Mother McAuley d. Lyons 18-16, 15-13: Megan Knightly and Megan Griffin had 13 and eight kills, respectively, for the No. 1 Mighty Macs (28-3).
St. Charles East d. Downers Grove South 15-11, 16-14: The No. 2 Saints came away with a win, rallying from an 11-5 deficit in Game 2 to overcome the No. 7 Mustangs. Amanda Rohrsen had 30 assists and Kim Holm notched 11 kills for St. Charles East (32-2). Downers South dropped to 27-8.
Providence d. Joliet Catholic 15-4, 15-1: The No. 3 Celtics (33-2, 9-0) clinched their second consecutive East Suburban Catholic title behind Renata Dargan’s 15 assists, Katie Freeman’s seven kills and Mandy Krauss’ four blocks. Providence has a 17-0 conference record over the past two years.
Sandburg d. Lockport 15-10, 15-6: The No. 6 Eagles closed out Game 2 with a 13-1 run to stay undefeated in the SICA West. Colleen Byrne recorded 15 kills, including seven in the run, and Sarah Kwasigroch contributed 36 assists for Sandburg (27-5, 11-0).
Mundelein d. Vernon Hills 11-15, 15-8, 15-0: The No. 10 Mustangs (27-3) claimed their first North Suburban title as Ashley Fidler and Aga Niemczewska recorded eight kills apiece.
St. Francis d. Montini 15-4, 15-10: Melissa Markowski served up four aces to lead the Spartans (26-8, 12-0). The win gives St. Francis its 12th consecutive Suburban Catholic title.
Shepard d. Homewood-Flossmoor 7-15, 15-5, 15-10: The Astros (21-8, 9-1) claimed a share of the SICA East title with the Vikings behind Sharon Yuska’s eight kills.
Boys soccer
Bartlett 3, Elgin 0: Dustin Weiher scored and assisted on both of Justin Wolf’s goals while Eric Moore notched his 10th shutout for Bartlett (18-2-2, 8-1-1) in the Upstate Eight.
Downers Grove South 6, Proviso East 0: Goalie Steve Goletz recorded his seventh shutout this season for the Mustangs (10-5-3, 6-0) in the West Suburban Gold contest.

Fenwick sectional: Ridgewood scored all its goals in the second half in a 5-3 comeback win over Francis Parker. Jakub Piotrowski notched two goals and two assists for the Rebels (12-5-1).
